Come and Craft a Chef’s Knife

Discover the art of making Damascus steel in our workshop. In this intensive and hands-on course, you will learn how to create a beautiful and durable chef’s knife from this patterned steel, which blends traditional forging techniques with modern tools and contemporary design elements. The knife shown in the picture is a result from the workshop.

The “Come and Craft a Chef’s Knife” workshop takes place at Põhjala Factory, located at Ankru 10, behind the Improtheatre courtyard at the end of the yard, behind the sign “Põhjala sepp”.

Duration: Approximately 2+ days
It is recommended to wear clothing made of natural fibers and closed-toe shoes. Keep in mind that clothes may get a bit dirty.
Protective gear such as gloves, a respirator for grinding, and safety glasses are provided on site.

What is Damascus Steel?

Damascus steel is known for its durability and unique pattern. The steel achieves its wavy and intricate design through repeated heating, forging, and processing of its layered structure.
