Step Into the Heat of the Forge – Make Your Own Japanese-Style Kiridashi Knife
By stepping into the heat of the forge, you become part of a unique workshop where we create something real together – your very own Japanese-style handcrafted kiridashi knife.
This is no ordinary masterclass – it’s a journey into the world of fire, metal, and determination. Forge a knife that has a soul and a story!
“Come and Make a Japanese Handcrafted Knife” is a full-day workshop where you will craft a forged-blade knife inspired by Japanese tradition, brought to life by the fire and hammer of an Estonian forge.
We use pre-made Damascus steel – a layered, durable material with a beautiful pattern, where each blade is truly one of a kind.
During the workshop you will:
- Forge and shape the blade following the Hephaistos Laboratory’s tradition
- Harden, grind, and sharpen your own knife
- Make a leather blade sheath
- Take home a truly personal and functional handcrafted knife
This workshop is perfect for:
- Real tool enthusiasts
- A gift for someone who values quality and craftsmanship
- Those eager to learn something deep and new
Duration: approx. 1 full day
Location: Forge “Põhjala Sepp”, Ankru 10, Tallinn
Group size: 1–2 participants (to ensure personal instruction)
No prior experience needed – full guidance from start to finish
The fire awaits. The work awaits. And a knife that is truly yours awaits.
